Ubisoft reported a few hours ago that last week it received a computer attack on its servers that affected the normal functioning of its games and services. This problem would have already been resolved, according to the French company, and reassures the gaming community by ensuring that no personal information of users would have been compromised.
“Last week, Ubisoft experienced a cybersecurity incident that caused a temporary disruption to some of our games, systems, and services. Our IT teams are working with leading external experts to investigate the problem,” says the French company (via WCCFTech). “As a precautionary measure, we initiated a company-wide password reset. Additionally, we can confirm that all of our games and services are operating normally and that, at this time, there is no evidence that player personal information has been accessed or exposed as a result of this incident.”
It is not the first time that Ubisoft has suffered an attack of this type, already suffered a similar one in 2020 which affected servers for competitive games like Rainbow Six Siege, leading the company to denounce the SNG.One portal. Ubisoft won that trial and was awarded $135,000. Other important companies in the sector that have recently been attacked are CD Prokejt RED or Nvidia, which had the source code of its DLSS technology leaked.
What can Ubisoft+ bring to Xbox and Game Pass in the future?
Fortunately, this computer attack on Ubisoft seems to have had no relevant consequences, but it is one more example of the need to invest in cybersecurity by the large companies in the sector.
