We were all clear that it was going to end up happening and it did. Overwatch 2 suffered at launch server crash due to the huge rush of players who tried to try the new Blizzard game. However, not everything is due to a lack of planning.
And it is that Mike Ybarra, president of the company, revealed on Twitter that the work was being subjected to a massive DDoS attack. That is, an attempt by a group of users to make a platform inaccessible to other players.
Unfortunately we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers. Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues. https://t.co/4GwrfHEiBE

To all this we must add that the first Overwatch is already history and it is not possible to play it. Blizzard hit the shutdown button, so users couldn’t even wait in the original game for the wait to be relieved. A few hours ago Aaron Keller, director of the work, has indicated a few hours ago that Overwatch 2 has been the subject of a second DDoS attack.
We’re steadily making progress on server issues and stability, as well as working through a second DDoS attack. We’re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night. Thank you for your patience – we’ll share more info as it becomes available.
