Twitch is trying to clean up its image in the music industry a bit with a new one that will benefit publishers and streamers alike.
More than a year after the pandemic, a period in which Twitch began to gain popularity, we continue to talk about how the Amazon platform continues to expand and position itself as a great space for streamers and, incidentally, for brands.
As is well known, as a result of the confinement that we experienced during almost all of 2020, finding an entertainment site beyond television was the perfect hook for sites like Twitch and others to add followers or subscribers and, with it , grow as a platform.
Twitch numbers during the pandemic
According to data from SafeBettingSites.com in January 2021, Twitch reported a growth of 150 percent, reaching nine billion users.
During the same period but in 2020, before the pandemic took over the world, the Amazon platform had just over three million viewers around the world.
Of course, much of the responsibility for this boom is one of the many effects that the appearance of Covid-19 brought and its inevitable closure worldwide.
Now, with a greater number of subscribers and, in turn, with more viewers, Twitch began to gain value as a platform, although violating some important regulations, such as the inclusion of licensed music in its contents without due permission.
This fact caused some streamers to be sanctioned, who had to eliminate some of their content that included licensed music. From that moment, a tense relationship began between Twitch and the music industry, in addition to other problems that the platform has experienced throughout these months that have put its own image in check.
Twitch works on a new deal
Given this, and as part of a plan that helps to repair a little the bad image that Twitch has in the music industry, today we are talking about an agreement with the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA), this with the intention of allowing that, now, streamers can place music in their content.
This agreement is not yet official, but it is being worked on, which, for Twitch, is already a gain, since it refers that the platform is trying to clean its image before one of the most powerful industries.
Without a doubt, if this agreement is carried out, it would be benefiting all parties: Twitch, because it would allow it to position its image; for streamers, because it would give them the opportunity to add music to their content and thereby reach a new audience; Finally, for publishers it is also a great opportunity, since it would give them the option of contemplating a new space to market themselves.
Let’s remember that Twitch has been in the spotlight after a series of decisions that have directly affected its streamers or content creators.
These decisions even led to a virtual strike, with streamers demanding a response from the platform after affecting their income, in addition to the fact that some creators had suffered harassment by other streamers, a fact that Tiwtch had not taken into account until recently.
Little by little, the Amazon platform seems to be working to provide a better experience for its creators, although, for example, the salary gap that exists between streamers themselves has yet to be replenished.
