The controversies around NFTs do not stop. Today, the gaming community woke up to the announcement that Troy Baker, voice actor recognized for roles as Joel in The Last of Us, has joined an NFT company.
Through his Twitter profile, Baker revealed that he has joined Voiceverse, a company that helps enable and advance AI-powered voice NFTs. In this way, it is possible to create podcasts, audiobooks and other types of products that require a voice, without the need for a voice actor. This was what Baker commented:
“I’m partnering with @VoiceverseNFT to explore ways that together we can empower new creators to do new things and allow everyone the opportunity to own and invest in the IP they create.
We all have a story to tell.
you can hate
Or you can create.
What will it be?

In response to this revelation, the community has reacted in a negative way. On twitter, Baker has received hundreds of comments from people who are against this decision, pointing out that the Voiceverse proposal harms small voice actors.
“This is an outrageously bad idea. Adding to the NFT bumf is ‘here’s an AI tool that can render voice actors useless’. Not only are you removing the ladder for voice artists to simply find their feet, you’re also *devaluing your own work*. Amazingly, overwhelmingly terrible.”

The reaction has been negative, and it seems that Troy Baker has lost the respect of some of his fans. On related topics, SEGA could leave the NFT market, but only under one condition. Similarly, GameStop will open its own store for this market.
Editor’s note:
Nobody likes NFTs. All proposals in this market have been received negatively, and it seems that the community will never accept this business as part of any industry. Only investors are supporting these proposals, but the question is: until when?
