Google Docs It has become one of the most popular alternatives to Microsoft Word, in fact, Google captured the interest of many users due to its option of remote work between several users simultaneously, which has taken a greater role during the pandemic.
Although in its beginnings the platform to create text documents was very simple, over the years it has increased its capabilities, and although it is still far behind Word (desktop) in terms of functions, it has many tools that will probably help you. They will make you forget about Microsoft Word Online.
Translate documents
If someone at your work sends you a document in another language, don’t worry, because if you don’t master that language, it doesn’t mean that you’ll have to be copying each paragraph to translate it into Google Translate.
To translate a document, select the Tools tab> Translate document and select the language you want to translate into.
If your document is in Spanish and you want to transfer it to another language, you can do the same process, but at the end select the desired language.
When a document is translated, a copy of that file is created with the translation so as not to alter the original file. Remember that Google translation is a guide, but it is not the most recommended option if you want to translate professional documents that you will later share with other people in your work.
Use the built-in dictionary
Another tool that you can take advantage of directly in Google Docs so as not to leave the program is the dictionary option, which not only looks for the meaning of a word, but also offers you synonyms that will help you when writing a document.
The dictionary is also available from the Tools> Dictionary tab. Or, you can activate it with the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Y (Windows), or, Cmd + Shift + Y (Mac).
Convert a document to PDF
If you need to save a text document as PDF to avoid editing, or because they requested it, in Google Docs it is also possible to download a copy of your document as .pdf, .docx, .odt, .txt or. epub.
To make this copy you must go to File> Download and select the type of file.
Sing a document
Although at Unocero we already explained how you can sign a document easily and quickly from your cell phone, there is also a fast and comfortable way to do it through Google Docs.
The first is from the draw option, which is available from the insert> Drawing> New tab. There, you just have to select the option “Freehand” and make your signature.
If you are in the web version and you find it difficult to make your signature with the mouse, don’t worry, because it is possible to integrate DocuSign to apply a signature saved in your account directly to the document.
For this you must go to the Add-ons tab> Download add-ons and search for DocuSign. Install this extension and log in with your account to integrate your signature.
View version history
One of the most interesting functions is the “Version history”, which allows you to check what changes were made to the document and which user made them.
To consult this history, it is necessary to go to the File tab> Version history> View version history.
