We continue with the festival proposals on the billboard. In the film Witchcraft, we will see a drama focused on the search for justice. The Chilean project premiered at the last edition of the Sundance festival and captured the attention of locals and strangers.

What is it about?
The official synopsis anticipates the following (via):
“Isla de Chiloé, 1880. Rosa Rain is a Huilliche girl who, after the murder of her father, arrives seeking justice at Mateo Coñuecar, leader of a mysterious organization of witches and who soon becomes her adoptive grandfather. When Mateo is arrested, accused of being a parallel authority to the nascent Republic of Chile, Rosa, with no one else in the world, will take on the challenge of freeing him, even if this implies starting on the path of no return of witchcraft.
What will we see in the movie Witchcraft?
In an interview with the Chilean outlet Radio Chiloé, the director, Christopher Murray, commented on why it was important to portray this community and take this true story as the main focus:
“My grandmother is chilota. […] From their stories I generated a link with this island. This is a very magical island, which is full of a very beautiful culture that I am interested in collecting”.
In addition, during a virtual interview from Sundance, the director spoke with the EFE news agency and said (via):
“The film is told from the intimate and subjective perspective of a girl to question the processes of colonization and how they transform those who are affected by them.”
