LONDON (AP) – Tottenham were the last perfect team in the Premier League after Son Heung-min scored the goal to defeat Watford 1-0 on Sunday.
It was the third successive victory at the start of the cycle for Nuno Espirito Santo as coach of the North London club.
Son opened the account in the 42nd minute by taking a free kick from the left that surprised Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.
Harry Kane started Tottenham’s lead for the first time this season after his move to Manchester City fell through.
After three dates, Tottenham has the ideal of new points, two more than their immediate pursuers heading to the FIFA date. The newly promoted Watford has three units.
Mason Greenwood advised Manchester United to keep his goalscoring skills in mind when Cristiano Ronaldo returns.
The 19-year-old attacker – who Cristiano is almost twice his age – has scored in all three United games to start the season.
His most recent goal allowed a lackluster United to take a 1-0 victory away at Wolverhampton. The goal was conceived by Raphael Varane, Cristiano’s former teammate at Real Madrid, in the defender’s debut for United.
The Portuguese star’s unexpected return to Old Trafford shook the step market. His debut will take place after the FIFA date.
Those led by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer need more firepower up front. While Greenwood’s first goal of the campaign came in a 5-1 blowout against Leeds, the one he signed last week salvaged a 1-1 draw at Southampton.
The winning goal against Wolves fell in the 80th minute, and then United crossed themselves to a double intervention by goalkeeper David De Gea 20 minutes from time to drown out Romain Saiss’ goal cry.
“We have not been at our best level,” said the Spanish goalkeeper. “But it is an extremely important victory for us.”
The win left United with seven points.
Burnley, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds. Both teams are still without victory this season.
Chris Wood opened the account for Burnley with the 30,000th goal since the start of the Premier in 1992. Patrick Bamford’s final goal saved a point for visiting Leeds.
