GTA V is one of those games for which it seems that the years do not pass, not only because it continues to have millions of players in its multiplayer aspect, GTA Online, but also because almost ten years after its original release On PS3 and Xbox 360, Rockstar’s game continues to be at the top of the best-selling games month after month. It already has 165 million copies sold.
According to Take Two’s executive vice president of finance, Hannah Sag, the company underestimated the launch of GTA V on the new generation of Xbox Series X | S and PS5 consoles, it would have given a good boost to the game’s sales (via Gsmingbolt), although the truth is that it would simply have served to keep up the pace. That is, GTA V would have harvested in the last quarter about 5 million units sold, the same rate at which the game has been growing quarterly since the beginning of the pandemic. Figures that most games would already like for themselves.
According to NPD Group, GTA V would have led the sales charts in the United States in the last three years ending in March 2022, both in number of units and in revenues. Undoubtedly, the release of this version for the new generation of consoles has allowed Rockstar, if not to improve them, to maintain their good numbers.
GTA VI around the corner
Seeing these results of GTA V almost ten years after its launch, there are those who will believe that Rockstar is in no hurry to release GTA VI, it will do so when it considers that it is perfectly finished. There is no specific date for that launch, not even for a formal presentation with a trailer for the game, which we have yet to see. A well-known insider suggests that there is still plenty of time for this GTA VI to hit stores, before a GTA IV remaster would arrive.
