It is no secret to anyone that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania It has not meant a brutal start in criticism and box office for phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
However, there are some interesting winks and connections that have a great impact. Like a scene linking Tony Stark to Kang the Conqueror. This is a sequence that requires extensive knowledge of the original comics and having closely tracked the Loki series.
But in the end the Ant-Man tape, which we review here at FayerWayer at the time. he seems to have frankly and directly raised the possibility that Kang and Tony Stark, Iron Man himself, have already crossed paths off-screen during the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Today we are going to analyze this situation, obviously with a considerable amount of spoilers about the aforementioned works. So we recommend having seen them before.
How Tony Stark Could Have Met Kang During Spider-Man: Homecoming
The crux of it all is in the final post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. There we see the Kangs council with multiple variables from various universes.
The vast majority of them are indistinguishable, but those who have closely followed this character in Marvel comics will have been able to distinguish some specific versions of the villain such as Immortus, Rama-Tut and Scarlet Centurion.
Among all the ones that concern us now, it is the one known as Mr. Gryphon, the one that appears there in the cast of variants and that marks the direct connection with Tony Stark and Iron Man. But for this, we must also go back to the Loki series.
We recommend watching the following video with discretion, as well as the following paragraphs, as they could spoil a potential surprise plot twist in Phase 5:
In the Loki series, when the character left his timeline to run into his other variants, we confirmed that Stark Tower was no longer from the Avengers and was now from a corporation called Qeng.
This is another of the names by which Mr. Gryphon is known, and in fact in the Marvel comics at some point he buys Stark Tower from Tony himself.
If we remember the plot of Spider-Man: Homecoming, a side part of the plot of the tape is that Tony and Happy are moving out of the building because Iron Man sold the tower.
In the Hawkeye series it is even confirmed that Tony sold it and it already has a new owner. After the appearance of Mr.Gryphon at the end of Ant-Man now the collective assumption among those in the know is that he would have bought the building.
This opens up the possibility of a flashback scene soon showing Tony selling the tower to Kang.
