The game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5.
Just a few days ago we had the announcement of a new Tomb Raider, which is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, the new graphics engine from Epic Games.
However, leaving aside the aspect that the game may have, one of the key points of the saga has always been its script and the treasure hunt, in the same way that her father’s legacy has always marked Lara Croft in some of his adventures, especially in this last trilogy.
Lara Croft’s father needs to be buried
Given this, the former Tomb Raider screenwriter, Rhiana Pratchett, has spoken about the next game in an interview with Eurogamer following the BAFTA Games Awards, pointing out the importance of the evolution of the character in the recent trilogyto which he added that it would be time for him to stop giving so much importance to his father.
In this way, he points out that with the reboot of the saga they built Lara Croft as a prototype tomb raider, where tenacity, bravery and ingenuity were emerging little by little. In this way, we could see a new Lara Croft who ends up exploiting her full potential.
Having said all this, it should be noted that at the moment we hardly have any data about the new game beyond that Crystal Dynamics will be in charge of the development and the graphics engine. It must be said that this team was responsible for the development of the first two installments of the trilogy, while the third was made by Eidos Montreal.
Otherwise, it only remains to note that the next Tomb Raider is being developed with Unreal Engine 5, being a complete mystery the platforms to which it will be destined. However, if we make use of the newspaper library and the trend that has been followed throughout all these years, as well as the engine used, it is quite likely that we will see the game in PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. Only time will tell if this ends up being fulfilled or not.
