It seems that the future of Tom Holland inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still somewhat uncertain. At least that is what the actor has transmitted during an interview. His first appearance was in 2016, in the movie Captain America: Civil War and recently in Spider-Man: No Way Home premiered at the end of 2021.
After six films as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the actor has hinted that is ready to leave the character behind and embark on new challenges. Although later both the study, as producers and even Holland himself have denied these statements.
Still, in an interview conducted by dead line to Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, their statements are again somewhat ambiguous about their future within the franchise of spider-man.
Tom Holland: “It’s the perfect time to leave Spider-Man behind”
“The movie was the most special thing I could have experienced, sharing the screen with my colleagues, playing Spider-Man can be an alienating experience because only three of us have done it,” explained Tom Holland. “Sharing it with the two of them has been an incredible experience that I have phenomenal memories of. I don’t know, there’s a part of me that says it’s the perfect time to jump off the building and swing into the sunset and let the next guy with lucky I took the superhero costume”.
But after making those statements that leave little doubt about Holland’s intentions, he continued: “I know I love this character and I know I’m not ready to say goodbye. But if it’s time to say goodbye, I’ll do it with a lot of pride, knowing that I’ve achieved everything I wanted to achieve with Peter Parker/Spider-Man. And to be able to share it with them [Maguire y Garfield] It will forever be one of the best experiences I’ve had in my career. So if it’s time, it’s time. If it’s not the time, it’s not. But right now I don’t know.”
And so Tom Holland, again, leaves the door open to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man again. At the same time, he again leaves the door open to leave the character behind and allow someone else to take him. There are dozens of rumors about the future of the superhero, inside and outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the introduction of the multiverse, anything is possible.
Some point to a third Spider-Man movie played by Andrew Garfield. This time in the spider verse which runs parallel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is also talk of the possibility that Tobey Maguire appears in another film, even if it is not centered on the superhero himself.
Tom Holland You are right in saying that the conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home makes it a perfect point to leave the character behind and have another actor pick up the slack.
