What is it about?
Based on the homonymous novel by Camille DeAngelis, this story coming-og-age follows a pair of cannibalistic lovers: Maren (Taylor Russell), a young woman learning to survive on the fringes of society, and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), a radical-minded drifter living on the fringes.
They embark on a journey through the highways, hidden passages and back roads in the United States of the Ronald Reagan era. A journey in which she searches for answers about why she kills and feeds on the people who love her. But despite her best efforts, all roads lead to her terrifying past and to one last stand that will determine if her love can survive her otherness.
“There is something in people deprived of privileges, in people who live on the margins of society, that attracts me and moves me. I want to see where the possibilities lie for them, entangled in the impossibilities they face”, says Guadagnino. “[Hasta los huesos] it is for me a meditation on who I am and how I can overcome what I feel, especially if it is something that I cannot control. And lastly, and most importantly, when will I be able to find myself in the gaze of the other?
