A tiktoker, through its official account, exhibits which are the most common cell phone scams in Plaza Meave, one of the busiest points in Mexico City.
Social networks have become a very valuable weapon if we know how to take advantage of their potential, beyond the fact of making posts that generate reactions or views to a specific page.
Although it could be said that this is its main function, the truth is that, nowadays, platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and others, have served to promote the search for work, debate on current issues, record assaults or acts of injustice in real time, among many other content.
This day, the case of a tiktoker that, as part of its content, which presents one of the most common cases in Mexico City but which rarely has real consequences, has been publicized in some media.
By many, it is well known that in certain parts of CDMX there is a kind of crime network that operates very naturally without the authorities noticing or, failing that, doing nothing about it.
One of those sites is Plaza Meave, a site where cell phones of all kinds are sold, devices that, among consumers, most of them are known to be of illicit origin, but which, knowingly, continue operating with total normality in one of the busiest avenues in the city center.
That is precisely what the case of the tiktoker, known as @caballeroguus, in question, who, through his account, tells what and how are the ways of operating that criminals have to steal mobile devices or even money from passersby.
This, of course, is no secret, because, as we already mentioned, it is one of the busiest points in CDMX, which is why, sometimes, it is easier to be a victim of criminals. According to the tiktoker, this is how the scam networks operate in Plaza Meave:
Without a doubt, social networks have a very different objective than they originally had. The initial idea was to be platforms that allow, in some way, to connect users to each other through the network. And that’s how they have worked, in fact.
However, with the passage of time and the enormous advance of technology, these have become a very powerful instrument: just as they can be used to chat with friends, they can also be used to make purchases, share videos in real time and, in some more ambitious cases, such as a complaint apparatus.
In recent years, complaint contents have gone viral and, in fact, tend to have a greater impact on social networks than in traditional media, a reason powerful enough for users to decide to resort, first, to the complaint in platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and others, instead of immediately going to the “competent” authorities.
Now, thanks to the great growth that TikTok has experienced in the last year, it is also serving to expose cases such as those of the user that we present lines above, this in order to take care of yourself and avoid falling before such acts, because, in reality, it it can happen to anyone.
