TikTok temporarily stops publishing short videos from Russia.
It joins the media that seek to protect creators and communicators.
Putin will punish “fake news” that speak ill of the Russian Army in Ukraine with jail.
TikTok, the leader of short videos on the internet, reported that it will suspend live broadcasts and publication of new content in Russiasince changes in the legislation of that country that many have described as censorship prohibits him from disseminating news about the armed forces and many creators base their recordings on the conflict with Ukraine.
“In light of Russia’s new ‘fake news’ law, we have no choice but to suspend live streaming and new content from our video service as we review the security implications of this law.”
“We will continue to assess the changing circumstances in Russia to decide when we fully resume our services with security as the highest priority, ”said the company on Twitter and explained that it will maintain only messaging within the application for the time being.

This measure is taken in response to the decree of the President Vladimir Putin, who on Friday established a new law that contemplates prison sentences of up to 15 years to those who publish “fake news” about the Russian Army and his interventions in Ukraine.
Given that many citizens have exposed on social networks that information is not circulating truthfully in Russia, that there is a layer of censorship and that the official version of the war is far from the images and videos that have been broadcast live throughout around the world, a variety of media outlets have decided to withdraw from the territory and protect their correspondents.
Among the television stations and print newspapers that said goodbye to Russia is CNN, which will stop broadcasting from this country, joining dozens of journalists and communicators who have also stopped their activity in the country, such as the British BBC or the US agency Bloomberg, who will continue to cover the Russian invasion of Ukraine from outside.
“CNN will stop broadcasting in Russia as we continue to assess the situation and our next steps.”, explained a spokesman for the chain to TVNewser.
It is estimated that TikTok has about 70 million users in Russia, where there are also various social and digital channels that compete with the Chinese platform.
