THQ Nordic streamed its event digitally, offering gamers fresh footage of the company’s already-announced games. This included gameplay footage from a couple of medieval-themed real-time strategy games that the company had previously announced.
Nevertheless, THQ Nordic surprised gamers by announcing a new game that takes inspiration from games RTS sci-fi game from the 90s and early 2000s. This upcoming game is called Tempest Rising.
In the 90s and 2000s, there was a good selection of games RTS among which to choose. Some of the biggest names in the genre were Age of Empires, StarCraft, Warcraft, and Command and Conquer. Several of these franchises have installments that helped define the RTS genre and have continued to be fan and critic favorites alike.
Sadly, as the 2000s and 2010s progressed, publishers seemed less interested in the genre, but now it seems to be making a comeback in a big way.
During the digital event THQ Nordicthe company revealed its new game RTS, Tempest Rising. The gameplay trailer features a voiceover from an unidentified leader praising the player while encouraging them to finish off their enemy.
A metal song that sounds like something out of the controversial Doom Eternal soundtrack plays over the gameplay, showing classic base-building mechanics and enemies fighting on foot, with guns, flamethrowers, and tanks.
Currently, Tempest Rising It doesn’t have a release date, but it’s expected to launch sometime in 2023.
