Another of Xiaomi’s crazy things has just come to light in the form of a patent. The company has published a very interesting patent showing a device that pretends to bypass the charger. Or, at least, happen very rarely. It is a mobile with solar charging through panels. Yes, like some cars or houses. The concept is very interesting and, although it is not new, we have not seen anything like it in years.
The Xiaomi Solar Smartphone that you would not need to charge
The solar panels They are capable of absorbing the sun’s energy and transforming it into electrical energy. This energy can be stored or used at the same time. What the Xiaomi patent is a common smartphone with a solar panel at the rear. There is not much else to tell, it is simply that: a mobile with a small solar panel.
Xiaomi’s goal is simple: get the mobile to feed on the energy supplied by the sun and this panel. It is too early to know details of the charge or the capacity of the panel, although we find it quite difficult for such a small panel to be able to generate enough constant power to use a smartphone.
What it could achieve is that the user has to go through the charger much less times. The mobile could include a internal battery in which the panel energy is stored, so autonomy could become much more interesting.
The bad news is that the user, and the autonomy, would be conditioned by the amount of sunlight that the plate receives. A whole morning in the office would be of little use. It is a simple concept that more than one company has ever patented, but that can hardly be truly useful.
Would you buy this Xiaomi smartphone with solar panel?
