Fast charging is getting out of hand. The latest leaks indicate that Xiaomi has prepared a device with a fast charge capable of recharging all the mAh of the battery in 17 minutes. Yes, you read correctly, in just 17 minutes this Xiaomi mobile could go from 0 to 100%. What is the reason for launching such a device? Position itself as the fastest-loading company in the world, a competition that has been somewhat absurd for a while and that is increasingly damaging to users in the medium term.
100W fast charge to recharge the entire battery in about 15 minutes
Various sources confirm from China that Xiaomi has ready a fast charging technology capable of offering 100W and a full recharge in 17 minutes . This would be accomplished with a 4,000 mAh battery cell and a considerably large charger.
This figure exceeds any current fast charging technology, which range from 20 to 50W depending on the manufacturer and the range. There are also certain manufacturers that go a little further with 55 and 60W. The normal thing in high-end mobiles is to have a fast charge of about 25 or 30W. They have controlled figures that do offer a very good feature to the user: with a 10/15 minute charge they can have several hours of use.
Xiaomi wants to win the competition of fast charging with this device that still does not know what it will be called. Some sources claim that it could be the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 that we have already talked about on some occasion.
Advantages and disadvantages of a 100W fast charge
The fast charge became popular when manufacturers realized that it was more feasible to load down the battery faster instead of making them larger. Almost all mobiles on the market have this fast charge, which can be more or less fast depending on the charger, the battery and the components of the device. More than 10 / 15W is considered fast.
All the fast charges on the market have only one advantage: to recharge the device faster. The rest are disadvantages for the user that are increased when the speed of the load increases. These are some of the disadvantages of having a fast charge as fast as the one Xiaomi intends to implement:
- Very high battery degradation in a short time
- A very large charger
- An extra cost for the manufacturer and the user
- Excessive heating when terminal is charged
These disadvantages are present in any fast-charging system that exceeds 25W , but things get much more serious when we talk about 100W. The heating that the device can suffer and the degradation of the battery can make the terminal not too recommendable.
There is an interesting possibility in these cases and that is to use fast charging only when you really need it. A few weeks ago we told you how not to use the fast charge of a mobile, something that should be implemented in this Xiaomi mobile with 100W of fast charge.
