Christophe Gans, director of Silent Hill (2006), has shared some details of his return to the franchise. Considered one of the best – and for many, the best – movies based on video games, Silent Hill collects the history of games based on the story of Alessa Gillespie (Silent Hill, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill Origins), offering a story faithful to the original and visually very elaborate. The story revolves around Rose Da Silva, who plays Harry Mason in the film, who must search for her lost daughter Sharon through the cursed town of Silent Hill. The film had a sequel that took the story of Silent Hill 3 as a reference, but did not enjoy the same success as the first.
This will be the new Silent Hill movie, inspired by Midsommar and It Follows
However, Christophe Gans promises to return us to the essence of the saga with Return to Silent Hill; official name of the film, which will arrive in 2023. Thanks to a user of Reddit, which attended a French film festival where Gans was present, we have been able to learn new details of the film from the direct source. According to the director, the team is looking for filming locations in Serbia and the film will be inspired by successful films from recent years, such as Midsommar or It Follows. According to him, both are an inspiration for him and he believes that they can help reflect that dreamy and nightmarish world that we know in Silent Hill.
On the other hand, Gans commented that Silent Hill is a “metaphysical” experience and the Reddit user believes that perhaps Return to Silent Hill is a more psychological experience, similar to Silent Hill 2 or Silent Hill Homecoming. In any case, we are looking forward to 2023 so we can enjoy it.
