As part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Tomb Raider, Square Enix has revealed unreleased footage from a canceled game that was named Tomb Raider: Ascension. This was a horror title that was being developed by Crystal dynamics, and that eventually became the reboot of 2013.

In accordance with Square Enix, Tomb Raider: Ascension was heavily inspired by the games of Team Ico. During its development, Crystal dynamics began to doubt about the project, and ultimately decided to cancel it to focus on the reboot, which as sure you know, ended up being a success.
