twitch You’re going to make a change to your advertising strategy to help small streamers. What’s it all about?
It is no secret to anyone that advertising pays very well when applied correctly, however, it can sink a brand when not. In this context, to obtain greater profitability, Twitch began to apply it in the transmissions of its users.
Mike Miton, director of monetization for the streaming platform, explained to The Washington Postthat indeed some ads harm or do not make sense in the content, especially from new and small creators.
In this regard, Twitch will remove ads that appear when some viewers first arrive on a channel, as these could cause users to divert their attention or not give new streamers an opportunity.
“Nobody wants a pre-roll ad when trying to find a new streamer… So ads should be removed from the discovery experience to help more people find the streamers they want to find, and especially [para] that smaller streamers don’t feel penalized by pre-rolls,” Miton said in an interview with The Washington Post.
And the advertisers?
This does not mean that the platform will put advertising aside permanently, rather they are working on optimizing other alternatives such as display ads, which are those that appear silently at the bottom of the videos instead of interrupting them.
“In terms of streaming opportunities, we really want to grow display ads faster than video ads,” Miton explained.
