We are only three weeks away from the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The latest installment of phase 4 of the MCU has generated very high expectations after two spectacular trailers and the promise of paying a great tribute to Chadwick Boseman. But for Mexicans, the film has an extra attraction: the presence of Mexican talent in great characters. One of those talents is Tenoch Huertawho gives life to namor, the antagonist of the tape. In addition to his presence in the MCU, there is another aspect that has caught the actor’s attention: his impressive physical change to bring the mutant to life.
Now that the movie is about to hit the big screen, we can learn more behind the scenes details and the filming process. Tenoch Huerta didn’t have to transform into a muscular man on a par with Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans; his task was another: to achieve the physique of a professional swimmer. This way, Namor would really go along with his underwater existence, he wouldn’t look like a bodybuilder.
Orchard’s training took place in Mexico City before he traveled to other countries for the filming of the movie. During Six days a week, Tenoch was spending his time in the gym gradually becoming the Namor that we will see on the big screen. Her job was to two high intensity routines and one more relaxed onewhich allowed him to recover to continue training.
“I enjoy Mexican food too much, so I was not in my best shape,” the actor commented for Men’s Health.
In total, this was his routine (via):
- Squats: 3 sets of 8 repetitions.
- Romanian deadlift: 3 sets of 8 repetitions.
- Sled push/pull: 3 sets of 8 repetitions. It is also known as a sled. It consists of a push that stimulates strength throughout the body.
- Incline Bench Press: 3 sets of 8 repetitions.
- Dumbbell Press: 3 sets of 8 repetitions.
- leg extension: 4 to 6 sets with 8 to 20 repetitions each.
Likewise, the Mexican actor also attended swimming classes lasting 90 minutes each.
“The director asked me: ´Do you know how to swim?´ And I told him: ´Well, I have never drowned´. Then the producer asked me, and I said, ‘Well, I’ve never drowned.’ Then my team asked me, and I told them: “Well, I’ve never drowned.” And they said to me: ´No, seriously, do you know how to swim? ”, He added.
After getting the physique right for Namor, Tenoch Huerta faced another serious problem: his character’s wardrobe. Just like in the comics, in the movie we will see him wearing only green underpants that we have already seen in the trailer. Obviously, that outfit needed the best physique, but it was not a pleasant experience for Huerta.
“When I saw him, I said: ‘The speedos, damn!”. And it is that throughout the filming, from the time she left her camper until the end of filming, Huerta spent it wearing only the green underpants.
Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwill hit theaters in Mexico from November 9. You can already buy your pre-sale tickets. Do you think Namor will become one of the best characters in the MCU?
John Joseph Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the cinema up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movies.
