Take a look at the deepest, sharpest infrared image ever taken of the early universe, all in one day’s work for the Webb telescope.
“This mission has been made possible thanks to human ingenuity: the incredible team at NASA Webb and our international partners at the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. Webb is just the beginning of what we can accomplish in the future when we work together for the benefit of humanity,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.
According to NASA, the James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s premier space science observatory. It was launched into space on December 25, 2021. After completing a space deployment sequence, the telescope underwent months of commissioning during which its mirrors were aligned, and its instruments calibrated for its space environment.
With the publication of the first images, Webb’s scientific operations are considered to have begun.
