By 2025, worldwide smartwatch shipments are projected to continue to grow to more than $258 million.
In 2021, in Mexico, a total of 9.4 million users of smartwatches.
With the digitization of the world, many brands have joined in launching technological projects with which to compete with other firms and win over consumers. This is the case of Google, which presented its first smart watch and which will go on sale on October 13 at a price of 350 dollars, around 7 thousand Mexican pesos.
Currently, smartphones and mobile connectivity have managed to permeate a large proportion of individuals, which is why the vast majority of brands have opted without much success for the creation of their own lines of smartwatches, which is why CCS Insight details that smartwatch shipments are expected worldwide continue to grow in the medium and long term over the next few years, going from 37 million units sold in 2016 to more than 258 million in 2025.
In Mexico, according to the study “Analysis and Sizing of the Smartwatches Market in Mexico 2Q-2020”, were counted a total of 9.4 million users of smartwatches to the second quarter of 2020 (2T-2020), a figure that represents an adoption level of 9.1 percent of the total number of Mexicans over 12 years of age.
These figures are given, despite the fact that the acquisition of these devices implies an additional expense to that of a smartphone, which creates a barrier for the Mexican market to adopt them massively.
In that sense, Apple is undoubtedly the leader in this market, accounting for a market share of 34.3 percent of devices in use as of 2Q-2020.
Today this model of devices has various functions to facilitate the daily routine, becoming in allies for work, health, sports, and in general, to facilitate daily tasks.
Google’s smart watch
The Alphabet unit unveiled Thursday when its first smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch, will go on sale.
According to the tech company, the smart watch It will go on sale on October 13 at a price of 350 dollars, around 7 thousand Mexican pesos.
Given this, many analysts argue that the company could face enormous obstacles to its adoption, given the great competition that Apple means in this field. and the inflation that affects the pocket of the consumers. Even sales of the Apple Watch have fallen this year as consumers delay purchases or select cheaper rivals.
It was revealed that Google apps already work with watches from companies including Apple, Samsung Electronics and Fitbit, which the company bought last year and whose devices are known for tracking personal health.
The new round-faced Pixel Watch, made of stainless steel and glass with dozens of strap options, enables contactless payments, music control and turn-by-turn directions.
The company disclosed that the watches will be sold in the United States and several other countries.
Hardware sales are a growing part of Google’s sales, and profits are also being made through more opportunities to sell ads and service subscriptions.
Let us remember that at the beginning of last month Apple launched its new Apple Watch Ultra on the market, which has a cost of 519 dollars and in Mexico more than 17 thousand Mexican pesos.
And this is how more technology companies join the sale of smart products, which are what current consumers are looking for, generating a strong market offer for people.
