A new member of the family is coming. It is clear that Xiaomi has an eye on the world of television. And we do not say it only for that new series that he has underway. We already told it: in China, Xiaomi is the undisputed leader in the TV market. And as we were confirmed at the local event for the presentation of the new Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, Spain will be the European market where the brand will make its greatest effort and investment to position its TVs.
If you are looking for a very cheap TV, there is the 4S series. If you prefer to opt for excellence, the Mi TV Q1 is not far behind. And in the middle of both, the new TV Q1E, a revision in a matter of technical specifications that will debut before the end of the quarter. Let’s see what novelties it proposes.
Xiaomi TV Q1E, a cheap but high-performance option
Already without the “Mi” as a surname – which gives us a hint of its focus on the upper-middle range – the TV Q1E starts with some interesting specifications. That ‘Q’ is a key letter that refers to panel technology, based on quantum dots.
For those who do not know what those quantum dots are, here is a quick lesson: qdots they are nanocrystals sprayed on a transparent sheet. This sheet is placed midway between the rear panel and the front panel. These crystals were previously a liquid solution. These salts crystallize and the result has unique electronic properties, since they can absorb light of a specific wavelength, managing to filter and purify the resulting color. They are like thousands of prisms of different sizes that they manage to greatly optimize the results, in terms of colorimetry, light spot and contrast, of a conventional LCD panel.
This is a clever “trick” to offer high purity blacks and high light peaks without compromising the stability of the panel, or resorting to high energy consumption, also avoiding the extra cost of mounting an OLED panel (organic pixels).
The 55-inch model, the only one confirmed to date, features a 4K resolution QLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and is capable of covering 103% of the NTSC color space and 97% of the DCI-P3 space. . Its peak of brightness doubles the ceiling of previous models, reaching 1,000 candela per square meter, resulting in a 10,000: 1 contrast ratio. With these figures we assume that the panel will be compatible with HDR10 + and Dolby Vision.
The specifications presented do not end here: the 30W stereo sound system —two 15W speakers each— will be compatible with Dolby Audio and DTS-HD. It is suspected that this is the first television of the company that makes use of Android TV based on Android 11, although its MediaTek MT9611 chipset and its launch date invite us to think that it will use Android TV based on Android 10.
Price and availability of the new Xiaomi TV Q1E
The release date beyond that “before Christmas” is currently unknown. From Xiaomi they have promised us that they will give us more information as soon as they can.
However, the launch price is known: 799 euros. This cut price may even be lower during the first days, since Xiaomi usually presents its exclusive price earlybird during the week before launch.
