Yesterday we were talking about how Microsoft had launched the PC Health Check application for all users (and not just Insiders). With it, the company gives the possibility to easily check if your computer will be compatible with Windows 11, analyzing if it meets the minimum requirements. At the same time, we said that Windows 11 can be installed from scratch on unsupported computers by downloading an ISO image, versus upgrading from Windows 10 via Windows Update.
Now, Tom Warren, editor of The Verge, has shown the warning that his team has shown when he has tried to install Windows 11, a system with which it is not compatible because it has a seventh generation Intel Core i7:
WINDOWS 11 IS OFFICIAL !: ALL about the NEW MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEM in 4 MINUTES
“Your PC will not have the right to receive updates”
Until now, we knew about Microsoft’s turn of the wheel, but not that you would have to accept this notice that serves as an exemption from liability to Microsoft and the manufacturer of your equipment, according to the Redmond company itself. This is the translated notice:
“This PC does not meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11 – these requirements help ensure a higher quality and more reliable experience. Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may lead to compatibility issues. Yes proceed to install Windows 11, your PC will no longer be supported and will no longer be entitled to receive updates. Damage to your PC due to lack of compatibility is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. By selecting Accept, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this “.
As we can see, Microsoft is quite blunt: “your PC will no longer be supported and will not have the right to receive updates“The first is obvious, but the second, as we have said since it was announced, makes less sense, especially if you accept as a user that you may have problems in the future.
You can have all the updates if you install the latest ISO that includes them, but not via Windows Update. It seems somewhat arbitrary and can lead to security problems (whoever chose the risk, of course). In return, and probably without much problem, you will be able to enjoy Windows 11 without changing your computer.
