Although Valentine’s celebrations do not reach figures like Mother’s Day, this date represents a strong cement for various sectors such as the hotel industry.
In countries like Mexico, February 14 is the date on which love and friendship are celebrated, the day on which gifts and experiences take hold of citizens, who through actions and presents show appreciation, which they have people, that is why it is now that we present to you what is the average expense of Mexicans during Valentine’s Day.
Throughout the year, celebrations and holidays are the perfect opportunity for brands to join seasonal marketing strategies, with which they encourage consumers to generate large economic benefits, being the festivities related to Christmas, Day of the Dead and the Independence of Mexico three of the most important celebrations, not only for their cultural weight but also for the economic activation that it generates.
However, although the celebrations for Valentine’s Day do not have such an occupation, such as Mother’s Day, this represents a strong economic benefit, since it is estimated that for the celebrations of next February 14 an economic benefit of at least 20 billion pesos, this according to what was indicated by the Institute of Economic Research of the UNAM.
This is the average cost of Mexicans during Valentine’s Day
Although recent studies indicate that 8 out of 10 Mexicans do not celebrate next February 14, this holiday represented the reactivation of the celebration seasons after the January slope, so data from the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF), estimate that at least 46 percent of Mexicans who celebrate this date allocate between 900 and 1,500 pesos in gifts and activities for the celebration, while the other 54 percent prefer to spend up to 600 pesos. While data provided by the UNAM Institute for Economic Research indicates that lovers spend between 900 and 1,500 pesos on gifts and activities.
Although it has been pointed out that within the cost of this, flowers and sweets continue to be the most chosen gift, another part of the population chooses to celebrate it in short-stay hotels and places outdoors, as pointed out by the Hot Hotels chain, who comments that although the cost of couples in a visit to a love hotel depends on the area, room and amenities they purchase, the total cost for the Day of Love can range from 545 pesos to 5,000 pesos.
“Only last year, in Mexico City, the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur México), registered a spill of more than 22 billion pesos during Valentine’s Day, and it is expected that this year is older.”
Well, it has been pointed out that, only in Mexico City, there are 1,800 short-stay hotel establishments, which places Mexico in the third global place, after Japan and Brazil. There are love hotels such as those of the Hot Hotels chain that have a room offer of between 270 pesos and 600 pesos, which allows them to be accessible to all people and which is one of the main reasons why during the 14th February there is a higher demand and constant flow throughout the day.
