Apple today introduced a new generation of its Apple Watch, the Series 6. It comes with a box available in a new blue color, as the iPhone 12 is rumored to come as well, so this matching color on the Apple Watch comes to corroborate that new design.
The main novelty of this new model is a new set of biometric sensors in the lower part of the watch that use infrared light to measure the user’s blood saturation. This allows us to know, basically, if our blood carries enough oxygen or not, and therefore allows the alarm to be raised when the levels of oxygen in the blood fall below the margins considered safe.
Blood oxygen saturation is one of the most closely monitored medical parameters in cases of pneumonia caused by COVID-19 of the pandemic that we are experiencing this year 2020.
Technical improvements
In the presentation video, Apple has told that this new Apple Watch Series 6 has an improved screen that looks better outdoors because it shines more, and it also has an improved always-on screen mode, although it has not specified how it improves exactly. This mode allows you to see the time and other basic information at all times, without having to touch it or lift your wrist to turn on the screen. The data it shows is relatively static because the content on the screen changes little or nothing, helping to save energy and keep consumption under control.
The CPU of the Apple Watch Series 6, the S5, has a dual-core processor with a lower consumption that guarantees an autonomy of about two days, like the previous model, despite being up to 20% faster.
Colors
As has happened with the new iPad Air, Apple has also surprised everyone by adding new unexpected colors for the Apple Watch box, not only the blue that we have shown you before but this new red that they will launch within the product series (PRODUCT ) NETWORK.
Straps without closing or opening
Another novelty are new elastic straps that have neither closure nor opening… they are simply put on by inserting the hand from one side.
The rest of the straps have also received some design changes or new colors, further increasing the variety of possible combinations.
Price
This new Apple Watch Series 6 with a 40 mm case, the small one, costs € 429 in Spain, or $ 399 in the US, with models and strap combinations that can cost considerably more money from that minimum price. The model with the 44 mm case, the large one, costs € 449 in Spain or $ 429 in the US. You can buy it right now, with deliveries starting on Friday of this week.
