This is Mercadona’s solution to remove yellowish stains from pillows

Raise your hand who has not ever had a pillow with yellowish stains at home. Over time, the pillows on the bed are taking on that unpleasant hue due to factors such as sweat, which seeps through the tissue, secretions from the scalp, or saliva that falls from the mouth when a person sleeps (it is normal, not just a child’s thing).

These liquids pass through the fabric of the cover, and pass to the pillow, forming those unsightly stains. Without a doubt, it is best to avoid getting the pillows to get stained. In this sense, so that the pillow does not fill not only with stains, but also with fungi and bacteria that do not favor our health at all, we must wash the pillow at least once a quarter. Of course, be careful when washing them, check the material, and the manufacturer’s instructions.

But once the yellowish spots have made an appearance, don’t worry, because there are solutions. For example, Mercadona has a practical and economical solution: sodium percarbonate. Percarbonate is a very powerful bleaching agent with active oxygen that costs only 1.85 euros.

To whiten those pillows full of yellowish stains, you have to put them to soak in 40 gr. percarbonate and hot water. When in contact with water, the percarbonate releases the oxygen that allows the bleaching action of the product.

The pillows will have to be in water for an hour. And so that your pillows also smell good, you can also add an essence that we like to the mixture of water and percarbonate.

Once that hour has elapsed, you will have to put the pillow in the washing machine at a maximum of 40º. When the washing is finished, you will have to let the pillow, now free of yellowish stains, dry in the open air in a horizontal position.
