Parallel to the popular Mercat de Santa Catarina and nestled in full Gothic QuarterThis is how Barcelona welcomed the Edition hotel, which in just five years has become one of the best ambassadors for Barcelona, even if it is one of its more international neighbours.
The same language, but with a different accent. This is how you can understand this hotel chain that belongs to Marriott and which he founded Ian Schragerthe promoter of the famous New York nightclub Studio 54, and who found a way to continue with the hotel business that almost clandestine club.
Conceived between Schrager and the Marriot team, Edition hotels are cult object on five continents and with two locations in Spain —the one in Barcelona and another in Madrid— and fifteen around the world, basing its aesthetics on an extremely eclectic architecture that, however, does not reject local details.
This is the case with Edition Barcelona, which is also committed to a local and careful gastronomy that is capable of tempting the foreign palates that populate its tables, attracted by the guarantee of the brand.
This is where the Truthful Baran authentic declaration of intent, which has become the reference restaurant of this hotel that has been placed on the green hands of chef Xavier Pellicer much of his spring.
The ‘green card’ of Edition Barcelona
The rooftop of The Barcelona Edition and the Bar Veraz room
Known for being one of the chefs who use the most vegetables and vegetables In his kitchen, Xavier Pellicer is not a cook to use, but a chef with a conscience that mixes well-being, health and flavor in equal parts.
Together with Pedro Tassarolothe hotel’s executive chef, Pellicer has opened a green door in Editionafter having been recognized as the best vegetable restaurant in the world by the guide We’re Smart Green Guide.

Biodynamics, ecology and proximity rocked in a style of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine who share the same wickerwork as Tassarolo, an Argentine with experience in kitchens such as El Bulli, Mugaritz or The Fat Duck.
Running The Edition’s kitchen since its opening, Tassarolo has soaked up the hallmarks of Catalan gastronomy and it has not forgotten the character of a bar either. Not in vain, Bar Veraz recommends a shareable letter and non-stop in the one that leaves there is a lot of accent —as in the anchovies, in the cheeses or in the Pa Amb Tomàquet— and also freshness at the expense of fish of the day, local meats or some curious octopus ragù croquettes.
A kitchen with four elements

Pedro Tasserolo and Xavier Pellicer; pickled mini vegetables and pressed cabbage
Air, fire, earth and water are the natural elements. Pellicer transfers them to the table, turned into root, fruit, leaf and flower. This is how the flower is a cream of organic artichokes and almond and truffle foam.
The curious root becomes a celeriac millefeuille and a touch of melanosporum truffle, which vindicates those terrestrial flavors. One of Pellicer’s icons and the only dish shared between his restaurant and Bar Veraz, where he has left these four dishes as an ephemeral legacy until April 19.

Along with this, the reinterpretation of vegetables at the expense of pickles where radishes, artichokes and broccoli show that there is a life beyond in textures and sizes, also including the purity of the garden. As a finishing touch, once again a renewed dignity for a vegetable as classic as cabbageessential in Catalan cuisine.
Only in this case the press, making it very Mediterranean and light with a mixture of dried tomatoes, capers and lemon confit, making a bite fresher and more spring-like that is finished off with roasted onion juice. A unique opportunity that can also be paired with biodynamic wines chosen by Pellicer himself.
The ‘stairway’ to heaven in Barcelona

The Punch Room, with the billiards room, and the Cabaret, with its stage, tables and bar
Recognized for the staircase that presides over your hall and also due to the omnipresence of billiards, Edition Barcelona clings to noble woods for an interior decoration that mixes avant-garde and warmth, destined for that Barcelona ‘ascension’.
Not surprisingly, even in the center of the city, the design of Edition Barcelona opts for light from its open flanks, crowned by a rooftop where meals and cocktails are also served, sheltered by a 360º panoramic view of the city.

The spiral staircase, a benchmark in all Edition hotels.
Already more furtive, faithful to the style of the Studio 54, Edition becomes more scoundrel with Punch Room, as a cocktail bar where billiards presides over the scene and, above all, with the Cabaret. Located on the ground floor of the building, this space acts as a discotheque, club and party room, filling up with live music and shows, open to both hotel guests and travelers and Barcelonans who want to be captivated by the Schrager touch.
