Trying to clean up its image again, Xiaomi has shown us how the storage disks of its servers are destroyed in order to protect our privacy. A rather interesting process, which manages to prevent the stored data from being recovered.
This has been shown to us by the president of the Xiaomi security and privacy committee, adding each of the steps that the firm performs after removing a storage unit from its servers oriented to the Xiaomi Cloud service.
As you can see in the following images, when a storage disk needs to be removed, it is unmounted and demagnetized. After that, it is introduced into a shredder, making the data, already encrypted, completely unrecoverable.
Thanks to this process, treatment carried out on any storage medium that in part obliges us to carry out the various data protection laws, Xiaomi manages to eliminate any trace of our most sensitive data.
Showing us this process, Xiaomi wanted to “wash”, in part, its image in the face of all those criticisms related to the privacy violation that the firm carried out, for example, through the incognito mode of its browser. You can see the video of the entire process from this link.
