Since then we have promoted actions that promote healthy lifestyles among girls, boys, their families and the educational staff of schools.
Our objective has focused on teaching them the importance of acquiring healthy habits, such as increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables in their diet, and performing physical activities to avoid a sedentary lifestyle.
The commitment has been very great. 3.7 million dollars have been invested, which has allowed us to directly impact 42,435 girls and boys, 402 teachers and 157 Community Child Development Centers in Mexico City, Puebla and the State of Mexico.
As a result of these actions, the vast majority of children benefiting from the program can now identify foods with a high percentage of sugar; They eat healthier and play sports. In other words, the benefits of the program are palpable in its present.
I am convinced of how important it is to continue promoting this type of action, since information can prevent diseases such as childhood obesity, an increasingly common public health problem.
For this reason, on May 11, we celebrated the results of our actions to show society the impact that the program has had on the communities, at the same time that all the actors involved reaffirmed our commitment.
Children have the right to health and we can all do something to guarantee it. From Save the Children, we will continue to build and strengthen alliances to promote healthy lifestyles.
