The peso was trading higher despite the uncertainty generated by protests against the covid-19 restrictions in China that have raised fears for the demand for raw materials and the growth of the world’s second largest economy.
The currency was trading at 19.3390 units per dollar, up 0.07% against Friday’s Reuters reference price.
“For the rest of the day the exchange rate could fluctuate between 19.26 and 19.40 spot,” Ci Banco analysts said in a note sent to clients.
The dollar index was down 0.62% against a basket of currency pairs, a factor that helped emerging-market currencies.
Investors’ attention will be focused this week on the comments from the Fed authorities and on the figures on job creation in November that will be released by the United States government.
During the session, the exchange rate is expected to trade between 19.30 and 19.48 pesos per dollarindicated Banco Base.
