2. Strengthen programs dedicated to the value chain, especially those that focus on small farmers and clients.
Similarly, Grupo Bimbo seeks to be a company where all people have access and opportunity to grow, through the creation of safe, healthy, diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces for its employees.
For Nature: Protect and regenerate natural systems
Participating in the fight against the degradation of ecosystems and their resources is one of Grupo Bimbo’s priorities, which is why its plan in this area determines the promotion of regenerative agriculture practices, the reduction and management of waste, as well as becoming a net zero carbon emission company.
To achieve this, the group renews its commitment to these three points:
1. Guarantee that 100% of its packaging will contribute to a circular economy, in 2030. Likewise, a 20% reduction in water consumption and 50% in food waste in its operations was established.
2. That 100% of its key ingredients come from land cultivated with regenerative agriculture practices.
3. The most ambitious environmental objective is to achieve zero net carbon emissions, following the framework of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi for its acronym in English), for the transition to a low carbon economy.
In this regard, Rafael Pamias, Deputy General Director and Chief Sustainability Officer of Grupo Bimbo, explained that although his objective was to mitigate the impact of his operations in the past, now his sustainability platform has evolved.
“This is how we are starting our journey to become a completely regenerative company, with clear and solid commitments. We do so by aligning Grupo Bimbo’s business objectives with our purpose of feeding a better world, a recipe for good”, concluded Pamias.
