Gekko is a new concept of Japanese steakhouse de Groot Hospitality that opened in partnership with Puerto Rican Bad Bunny, following David Grutman’s innovative approach of blending the worlds of entertainment and hospitality.
Grutman is also known as the King of Miami Nightlife, having also teamed up with Pharrell Williams to open the Swan restaurants, Strawberry Moon, and The Goodtime hotel.
The name of the new Miami-based restaurant means “moonlight,” and created its menu around premium cuts and Wagyu beef preparations (with hints of Korean barbecue).
It has an emphasis on tabletop presentations -including flame-sealed meat cut platters-. Other popular Japanese-inspired dishes will also be offered, as well as a full sushi program, including an Omakase bar for six.
The firm The Rockwell Group leads the concept of gecko designanchoring the aesthetic in a luxurious yet contemporary application of graphic wallcoverings, jewel tones, golden light and natural wood accents.
Bad Bunny’s new restaurant seats approximately 185 guests, and is located on the ground floor of the SLS Lux Brickell on colorful South Miami Avenue.
