With the name HAMR, this drone works thanks to a hybrid gas and electricity system, which allows you to push the limits when it comes to battery life.
Your hybrid system, the key
In its structure, this ship has a 35 horsepower gasoline engine which is controlled by a system that is responsible for injecting electronic fuel, driving a generator that the drone has.
This generator is in charge of giving life to the six electric motors that the aircraft has, in addition to charging its battery. In the hypothetical case that one of the motors fails and a collision could occur, this battery that has accumulated energy would serve to be able to do an emergency landing.
Battery life is up to three and a half hours. It can house a total of 3 liters of fuel, although if the drone is carrying weight this figure may go down.
It can carry a maximum of almost three kilos load approximately, having two different spaces for this task. In case one of those two spaces is left free, it can be used as a second gasoline unit to have more with the 3 liters that I would already carry.
Can perform different tasks
What is the infrastructure of the drone itself has a weight of 14 kilos and a half. Regarding its dimensions, it measures 1.7 meters long and 3.3 wide. Can reach speeds close to 50 kilometers per hour.
What’s more, different accessories can be incorporated to take advantage of its features such as a high resolution camera, which allows you to capture spectacular aerial panoramas.
Therefore, this drone could be used to reconnaissance tasks, package delivery or study of different natural environments, since its battery allows you maintain the flight for a long period of time compared to other drones already developed.
We will see if more companies apply this technique in drones to achieve increase the life of your battery.
