This may be the start of his official comeback
Cell remains one of the most iconic villains of Dragon Ball Z and, in general, of the entire Akira Toriyama franchise. In fact, his recent introduction in the card game of this saga with his final form revived the interest in his character and it seems that this new fashion is not going to end soon, Well, a figure has been revealed that recreates one of his most iconic scenes with Goku and Gohan..
As revealed by the official website from Dragon Ball, the new set of special figures perfectly captures the moment of Cell’s defeat, when a young Gohan and the spirit of his recently deceased father, Goku, combine their powers to perform the incredibly powerful Father-Son Kamehameha with which they finally they defeated the android. Characters are sculpted with accurate anime and manga detail, from Gohan’s massive shock to the look of disbelief on Cell’s face when he realizes he’s lost.
Additionally, they feature transparent effect parts that recreate the look of the Kamehameha explosions in this duel on both the Saiyan and Android sides. According to the website’s description, the new set of figures will be sold exclusively in China, so collectors outside the country will have to turn to specialized import stores or the secondary market to get their hands on the statues. However, it is important to note the high quality of these collectibles, so the effort will be worth it.
It is impressive how much affection the Dragon Ball fandom still has for Cell, a biological android from an alternate timeline. He was the ultimate creation of Dr. Gero, the Red Patrol Army scientist who also created Androids 16, 17, and 18. Designed to be the ultimate warrior, Cell was built from the series’ genetic material. he ‘most powerful warriors’ and is able to recreate many of his signature attacks, including Goku’s Kamehameha and Vegeta’s finishing attack. Through a combination of raw power and underhanded tricks, Cell is able to defeat most of his opponents, including Goku and Vegeta, but is eventually finished off by Gohan.
