Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s most ambitious title to date, and the developers have packed an astonishing level of detail and complexity into its open world setting. However, an unexpectedly popular aspect of the game is the speed run, in which fans compete fiercely to beat the game faster. Now a speedrunner from Elden Ring has set a new world record with the help of some newly discovered glitches.
After a few weeks, fans of Elden Ring they started to get times of speed run incredibly fast. This has gotten to a point where it seems like the Elden Ring speedrunners are setting new records on a daily basis. It seems that the discovery of game-breaking glitches, particularly those that allow the player to teleport, has changed the way speedrunners approach this title.
the streamer and speedrunner of Souls, Distortion2, has recently published a video on his official YouTube account in which he recounts his most recent world record of Elden Ring. The video is almost 13 minutes long, but the speedrun it contains only covers half of the running time.
As the title of the video “Elden Ring Any% Unrestricted Speedrun in 6:59 (WORLDS FIRST SUB 7 MINUTES)” says, Distortion2 has set the first world record for speed run from Elden Ring in less than seven minutes. In the video, they are shown using glitches to teleport around the Midlands, break the sequence, and even kill the necessary bosses.
The video shows Distortion2 quickly teleporting around the game’s stage using glitches as a means of transportation to reach the required chests and bosses. The speedrunner from Elden Ring He went into detail about how this was achieved in a pinned comment below.
Distortion2 appears to have used two glitches in particular in this run, which have been dubbed “The Zip” and “Megazip”. The Zip is a frame-perfect glitch that triggers when players combine multiple actions – block, hold, and press W to go – resulting in a combined 139 frames. If this total is reached, the player teleports a variable distance, with the jump being greater the longer the W key is held.
For its part, the Megazip is a glitch that is activated by pressing the W key within a window of 12-14 frames after using the Zip. This glitch quadruples the player’s momentum, allowing them to launch even further. However, the most important element of the Megazip may be the way it allows players to skip the boss fights in the game.
Distortion2’s video shows how he uses the Megazip to kill both Malekith and the game’s final boss, the Beast of Edens. However, the nature of the teleportation means that Radagon is left alone, as defeating him is not technically necessary to beat the game.
