When Jess took a closer look at the videos she had shared of her own 12-year-old daughter, as well as her daughter’s private Instagram account, she said she needed to speak out and warn other families about what she found.
“The problem with all the saves and all the follow-ups is that people are looking at their children and doing disgusting things. Protect your children.” said.
In the video on the platform that registers more than 700 thousand interactions and 12 thousand comments, the mother explains that she started looking into things after learning about the controversy surrounding the popular content creator Wren Eleanor, a three-year-old girl who He has more than 17 million followers on TikTok.
While at first glance the content shared by Wren’s mom is just adorable videos of the girl playing dress up, many parents began to express concern that some of his followers might have sinister motives.
“What moms are noticing is how many times these Wren videos are saved”Jess explained, noting that a video of the little boy in a crop top had been saved more than 45,000 times, while another of her eating a hot dog had been saved 345,000 times.
“People started noticing really disgusting comments that men were leaving. I’m not going to share the disgusting ones, but I noticed someone posted this: She’s so mature for her age,” said.
When Jess saw that comment, she was reminded of a comment she received on a video from her 12-year-old daughter. “My daughter doesn’t have a TikTok account… but my daughter was doing the ‘3,2,1 bang challenge’ and I posted it and got this comment: ‘your daughter is kinda cute’”said.
“I thought that comment was innocent when it was posted, but it’s not. Then I realized that my daughter’s video had been saved too many times, so I deleted it,” she adds.
In that same video, she details that things got even more unsettling for the mother when she went through her daughter’s private Instagram account and found anonymous accounts, like a call @FunTesticles, which followed its daughter and saw its content.
Before his video that has gone viral, many mothers commented who have removed their children from social networks.
“This is why I no longer post my children. Sure, 98 percent of viewers are innocent and think it’s cute. But that 2 percent is not worth it,” wrote a mother in the comments of the videos.
“Those people even use keywords in the comments to identify each other. So scary!” read in another comment.
“Wow, this really opened my eyes, I public my son all the time”, another mother worried, indicates another netizen.
Although social networks are often a great tool for humanity, they can also be a very insecure world for those who do not know how to use it due to the degree of exposure they have.
