The DOP Regulatory Council of Mexillon de Galicia informed that it will develop in collaboration with other companies and entities a pilot project to incorporate blockchain technology into the traceability of the mussels that will be marketed from that region.
This new initiative, which embraces blockchain technology, will be carried out within the framework of the Musselbock project With which they assured, it is intended to guarantee traceability and food safety in the value chain of certified mussels.
In this sense, they also revealed that Musselblock is coordinated from the Galician Food Cluster (Clusaga) where, in addition to the PDO, the partner entities Perfect Numbers, Triple Alfa, Elige Data and the collaboration of the associate Tastelab participate. In addition, it is financed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism through the 2022B call for the support program for AEIs (Innovative Business Groups).
Finally, from Mexillón de Galicia also They highlighted that this plan will mean important advances in the improvement of processes through sensorization, digitization, optimization of documentary procedures and integration of the entire value chain in a digital solution based especially on blockchain.
