Just over four months to go until the launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and many hope that Game Freak will start showing more and more of the game. So far it has received two trailers revealing the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon, four-player co-op functionality, non-linear progression style, and much more.
Meanwhile, there have been many rumors and leaks (false and/or legitimate) that have circulated during this time. For example, Riddler Khu has hinted at Fuecoco’s evolution several times, as well as other elements of the game. Riddler Khu is perhaps the only leaker in the Pokémon space to be trusted, given that his track record covers all recent games accurately, including starters from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
However, there are also many fakes circulating, such as one of an evolution of Sprigatito that turned out to be a modified Obstagoon. Now, a new “leak” has started to circulate on the Internet, showing a new regional variant for Taurus. Given that bullfighting is linked to Spanish culture and that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are based in Spain/Iberian Peninsula, it would make sense to give the Gen 1 bull Pokemon some love.
An image has circulated on various social networks, which can be seen on reddit below, showing a new way to Taurus. This form apparently changes Tauros from a normal type to a dark type, with dark fur, gold and red ornaments, including his horns, and eerie red eyes.
It seems like a very good regional variant for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet; however, fans should be aware, if they see this post anywhere on the internet, that there is a good chance it is fake.
First of all, it appears on a Switch screen, which means someone would have to have access to the game on a Switch. That is not possible at this time. Others have also pointed out that this Taurus is much less detailed than other Pokémon seen in the trailers for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet until now.
Some have argued that it may be less textured due to the development phase, but this idea falls apart when put next to the Switch screen. Lastly, this appears to be a random image circulating in the community Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. There doesn’t seem to be any real source for it, and since leaks should live and die by their source, the lack of a source makes this image even less believable.
It looks like an interesting regional way to Taurusand stranger things have happened for an image to be legit, but fans should take it with a grain of salt.
