The Spanish subsidiary of the international firm Grant Thornton, reported that in joint work between the legal and technology consulting areas, it designed a tool supported by blockchain technology for the management of the complaints channel.
In this sense, explained that the reason for the development of this tool was the mandatory transposition of the European Union Directive 2019/1937 on the protection of whistleblowers, already fruitful in Spanish national law during the month of December 2022 that now obliges a large number of private companies and all those in the public sector to implement internal complaint systems in their organization.
Likewise, they mentioned that their tool called ‘Blockchannel GT’ will allow you to anonymously and “securely” report any violation related to data protection, information security, situations of harassment, corruption, etc., in order for the company to have adequate information and elements to comply with the regulations and ethical standards that have been set.
“The tool designed by Grant Thornton represents an opportunity for organizations to outsource their reporting channel and, therefore, provide greater independence and objectivity to the investigation of irregularities within the company”they mentioned.
Lastly, as highlighted in their statement, this innovation allowed the firm’s Spanish subsidiary to win the award for Best Innovation from the Grant Thornton global network, among solutions from more than 140 countries.
