The magistrate José Luis Vargas Valdez reported that the presiding magistrate by the Ministry of Law of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), Felipe Fuentes Barrera, called a private session to elect the new head of the jurisdictional body.
The call that circulates tonight calls the members of the Superior Chamber to a session by videoconference at 10:00 a.m. to give way to the election of the new presidency of the Electoral Tribunal as its members agreed in a private session on 9 of August.
In this regard, Judge Vargas Valdez stated that given the events of recent weeks that led to his dismissal and the election of three presidents of this collegiate body, the session should be open to public scrutiny, considering that it is a matter of general interest.
“I allow myself to request in the most attentive way that said session by videoconference be of a public nature as provided for in articles 165 of the Organic Law of the Judicial Power of the Federation,” Vargas Valdez stated in a letter made public tonight.

On August 4, five magistrates of the Electoral Court decided to dismiss José Luis Vargas Valdez as president after analyzing that the investigations carried out by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) against him for alleged Illicit enrichment and money laundering undermined confidence in their work.
In the same way, they accused that Judge Vargas Valdez did not behave with respect towards his peers and even pointed out that he violated their autonomy and impartiality in the analysis of electoral cases through administrative tricks.
The institutional crisis that this decision brought with it escalated to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) where Minister President Arturo Zaldívar intervened to amend the relationship between the electoral magistrates.
