During the first week of the year it was confirmed that ESA had canceled the face-to-face event planned for the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year, better known as the E3 2022. Although it was originally thought that the event could be held digitally, some experts believe that E3 2022 has actually been completely canceled and we will have confirmation on this soon.
When the ESA (Electronic Software Association) announced that the E3 2022 face-to-face event had been cancelled, citing concerns about the omicron variant of covid-19 as the reason. However, they have since said that this could be an excuse from the ESA, who are actually planning to cancel E3 entirely. This time it was Jeff Grubb who said he was almost sure that E3 2022 will be cancelled.

According to Grubb, it’s still too early to be totally sure and very little information has been revealed, but we’ll probably see something similar to last year’s Summer Games Fest in June. However, regarding E3 seems pretty sure it’s going to be canceled, so we could see companies holding their own events.
Several years companies have been pulling out of E3 to make their own plans, such as when Nintendo stopped holding live conferences to present their announcements online through the Nintendo Direct, which became a company hallmark. ESA prices to participate in E3 is one of the main factors for companies to leave the event, because with digital events it is possible to save that fee and send the message directly to fans.

There is still half a year to go until we are on E3, but it is most likely that we will have a confirmation from the ESA in the coming weeks. When they announced that the face-to-face event was cancelled, the THAT he only said he was considering a digital event, so even this has not been officially confirmed.
