They announce a new Tomb Raider, made with Unreal Engine 5

Epic Games has just wrapped up its “State of Unreal 2022” event, showcasing how easy it will be for developers to use the new Unreal Engine 5 to create next-gen gaming experiences.

Epic brought in people from various game development studios to unveil Unreal Engine 5and the biggest revelation came from Dallas Dickinson, from Crystal Dynamicswho is the studio’s chief franchise officer.

During the State of Unreal 2022 event, Dickinson confirmed that Crystal Dynamics has just started development on a new game of tomb Raiderand that this will have Unreal Engine 5 to offer “next-level narrative and gameplay experiences“.

Dickinson has explained that Crystal Dynamics’ goal is “push the boundaries of fidelity and deliver the high-quality, cinematic action-adventure experience that fans deserve from both Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise“.

Unfortunately, during the event no further details were shared about what this new game of tomb Raider. However, being built with the engine Unreal Engine 5fans can count on it likely only being available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S rather than older consoles.

However, fans of tomb Raider they will be delighted to know that Crystal Dynamics is making the next game in the series. After all, Crystal Dynamics was behind the acclaimed Tomb Raider reboot and its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, while the slightly less popular Shadow of the Tomb Raider was made by Eidos-Montreal.

It will be interesting to see what the studio is able to achieve with an experience of tomb Raider driven Unreal Engine 5.
