They criticize AMLO for contradiction between austerity discourse and his children’s lifestyle.
They again capture Jesús Ernesto, his youngest son, with tennis shoes of more than 100 thousand pesos.
They question in networks “Franciscan poverty” with which the federal Executive claimed to live.
Within the framework of a discourse of austerity and polarization about the luxuries that people with money can afford “at the expense of the people”, and whom our Government has classified as “fifís”; Today the son of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) became a public trend again by breaking with this precept and wearing sneakers worth more than 150 thousand pesos.
And it is that, although it must be clarified that having a high purchasing power and being able to buy the products you want is not a crime, nor a social or individual error, criticism of the 15-year-old has been unleashed by contrasting his lifestyle with the one that his father has promoted throughout his political career.
In 2019 AMLO had said that he did not even have a credit card, properties or exotic objects because he did not agree with living in “opulence” as “his adversaries” did.He even stressed on national television that he was used to living with 200 pesos in his wallet and that “the corrupt are the most extravagant.”
Over time, the President’s opinion has not changed, despite the fact that while in his mornings he exposes the luxuries of officials, politicians, businessmen and even journalists “suspected” of committing a crime, more than once he has been questioned whether his family is willing to live under the same ideal, because on more than one occasion his actions have been pointed out as contradictory.
For example, at the beginning of the year, his eldest son Jose Ramon Lopez Beltran was placed in the eye of the hurricane when the mansion in which he lived with his wife in the United States was revealed, which critics and opponents called “The Gray House”, since Beltrán’s income declaration had disparities that sowed doubts, among them their source of income from a company expressly designed digitally and the conflict of interest with their employers.
Today, a less shocking case is presented on social networks, where the media, analysts, critics, journalists, politicians, officials and citizens once again counter speech with action, pointing out that the use of well-earned money by the President is not the focus of the conflict and that the minor in question is not guilty of choosing a lifestyle that is appropriate to their socioeconomic status… the criticism that is a trend today derives from the disparity and inconsistency found in the so-called “Franciscan poverty” of the “Fourth Transformation”.
These are the exclusive sneakers of AMLO’s son
Today the youngest son of the President, Jesus Ernesto Lopez Gutierrezwas seen wearing luxury tennis shoes that cost more than 100 thousand pesos.
It is about sneakers blue with the distinctive arrow of the Nike sports brand, model specific X Off white which, depending on the store, can cost 45,000 Mexican pesos or up to 150,000 pesos, including shipping costs and VAT.
This was demonstrated by Internet users who immediately took on the task of searching for the product with which AMLO’s son was seen walking the streets with more than 270 minimum wages on his feet.

August 16, 2022 Some even fashioned the “student discount” that Farfetch online store offers, with which Ernesto López could have obtained the
sneakers
in more than 83 thousand pesos.
“This is an insult to those who do have a pair of shoes for believing in López Obrador’s Austerity”, @ClemenC3PO “What about the son of@lopezobrador_ c in tennis of fifi; amlo questioning why we should have more of 1-2 pairs of shit, that’s it of malevolent aspirationists…so much congruence, why, if so much weight is given to the educational level of the 4t, send your
son to the UK to study?”, @raulmperiodista “According to the peje @lopezobrador_ 200 pesos is enough to live like this, and now even to pay for education of its
son
in the UK”, @jalmar_mxr This is not the first time that Jesús Ernesto has been seen with expensive sneakers, on August 9 he was also seen at London Heathrow airport, accompanied by the Mexican ambassador Josefa González-Blanco, wearing sneakers worth more than 10 thousand pesos. On that occasion the brand and model advertised with the controversy was
Off White Odsy-100,
that cost 10 percent of what the blue Nikes that circulate throughout the network today.
AMLO’s “Franciscan poverty”just the past July 27th President Andrés Manuel López Obrador warned that he would change the flag of his political movement in the Government and would go from an ideology of “republican austerity” by
“Franciscan poverty”,
assuring that in view of a critical economic situation and the inflation that hits the country, it would seek to implement measures that would differentiate it from its predecessors by acting against the “claws of waste”, where it would even ask public officials to “fasten their belts ”.
“We are going to move from the republican austerity phase to a higher phase, which is that of Franciscan poverty, because I have a meeting with the cabinet tomorrow and we are going to carry out additional austerity measures,” he said during that morning while highlighting that in his administration he had managed to save 2 billion pesos.
This was the last speech of AMLO that today is opposed in social networks and in the national political discourse.
