Intelligent robots, capable of cleaning our houses autonomously, came into our lives a long time ago to make us gain leisure time and quality of life. Now, within a new generation of these small electrical appliances that help us make our lives easier, the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro robot cleaner and mop.
A pioneering intelligent cleaning robot in the market that uses 3D technology to avoid obstacles and that we can manage from a app for Android in a very intuitive way. And at Decoesfera we have been testing it before its launch to be able to tell you our opinion.
How is the Yeddi Vac 2 Pro
The design of the Yeedi Vac 2 Pro is round and compactfinished in an attractive white colour, some measures 350mm. in diameter and 77 mm. thick (Its height prevents it from cleaning under most sofas. In fact, it doesn’t fit by a few millimeters on ours.)
In the upper area of the robot, we find the button to activate or deactivate cleaning, as well as a camera of the SLAM visual navigation system that looks upwards scan the surface to create the map of the house.
If we lift the lid that covers the upper part, we find the robot’s on and off button, the Wi-Fi network reset/registration button, and a sticker with the QR code to download the App that will allow us to connect the device to our mobile to be able to direct it. In this area we also see the dust deposit, and a cleaning brush.
On the front, there is a bumper that detects objects by contact, which is complemented by a 3D detector to obtain greater precision when finding small objects, allowing them to be avoided. This detector significantly reduces the blows given against the furniture, or even against some bottles that we have on the floor in the hall, and that have resisted the passage of the robot without having fallen to the ground even once.
On one of the sides we also find a grille through which the device expels the aspirated air, once it has been purified. And in the rear area, there is the part that comes standard for sweeping mode, and that is replaced by the oscillating scrubbing module when desired.
Regarding the scrubbing module, which includes a Velcro attachment to place the mop (washable), and a deposit of 180 ml. with dispenser to moisten the mop and the floor for when we want to scrub it.
The robot also has a carpet detector (from the mobile application you can activate an option to increase the suction when it detects that it is in a carpeted area), and even 6 cliff sensors located on the edge of the robot, to prevent it from falling down some stairs.
How It Works: The Setup Process and Getting Started
From what we have been able to verify these weeks that we have tested the Yeedi Vac Pro, its use is easy and intuitive. The first thing to do is download yeedi app from the Google Store. You can look for it in the store, or directly, download it using the QR code that appears on a sticker located at the top.
To do the configuration, it is necessary to have a 2.4 GHz or 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi connection. After choosing the language, you have to click on the “+” to add the robot. Then, the application asks us for the Wi-Fi network and the password. In case it fails, you can connect to the robot’s own Yeedi Wi-Fi to make the connection.
To configure it, you just have to follow the instructions, which will take us to pair the robot with the mobile phone using a QR code generated by the mobile, and that must be placed on the camera located in the upper part of the robot. Once paired, and to be able to control the robot from the mobile phone, the Yeedi must first clean the entire house so that it can create the map.
This first run will be somewhat slower than the successive ones, as it takes more time to map. And from the App itself we can rename the rooms, something very useful for customize cleaning modes. As we have already mentioned, the application is quite simple and intuitive. On the first screen we can select to perform automatic cleaning, or access all the robot’s options.
If we access this option, at the bottom we find three tabs that must be highlighted: zone, auto and custom. The area option allows us to select one or several rooms in which we want to clean. The second, auto, is for a complete cleanup. And the last one, personalized, to direct the robot to carry out a quick cleaning. Thanks to these options, it is possible, for example, to determine the cleaning sequence, from the bedroom, to the living room, or to the kitchen, in order to avoid cross contamination.
If we go down on the same screen, we will find other options such as requesting the robot to return to the charging base, the suction power (there are four power levels), the level of water flow for the scrubbing process, or different cleaning settings. There is also the option of do not disturb at certain times (it can be programmed so that it never cleans during a certain time frame), or self-emptying.
The application also allows us to see by where is cleaning the robot at home in real timeeven if we are outside of it (the robot leaves a blue trail on the virtual map).
One thing that has caught our attention is how fast it moves. When he approaches objects, he slows down, but normally, the robot moves quicklyperforming even small runs in which his hitting speed increases.
At the end of cleaning, the robot automatically returns to the charging station. And if the battery runs out in the middle of cleaning (the app shows you the percentage of charge at all times), the robot returns to the station, charges, and continues cleaning when it has finished charging.
The scrubbing system
In the case of scrubbing, it is ideal for maintenance and to have a shiny floor. Unlike other robots and vacuum cleaners we have tested, in the case of this Yeedi, it offers the option to program it to prevent the robot from going over the carpets.
An advantage, since in other models, even if they raise the scrubbing cloth, it often leaves traces of water. The negative part of the scrubbing system is that the robot, due to its shapecan not scrub the cornersfor which it is necessary to continue pulling the mop from time to time.
the emptying station
Together with the Yeddi Vac 2, an optional emptying station that will make you forget to empty the dust compartment that the robot houses inside for weeks. This station has a compartment that collects the dust of the robot thanks to a disposable bag of 2.5 liters capacity and that lasts around a month.
Our opinion
After several weeks of use, the truth is that at home we are delighted with this robot. The floors are cleaner than ever, you can schedule cleanings to clean the days and times you say. Besides, the robot reaches corners that other robots we have had at home had not been able to reach.
At this point, the action of its side brush is noticeable, and the 3D technology, very useful when it comes to find objects on your route to avoid them. That helps us not have to pick up things that are in the way before the robot starts to vacuum. We have also had no problems with the curtains.
In addition, it has a powerful suction capacity. This is demonstrated when opening the tank, and seeing the amount of dust and dirt that it traps thanks to its great suction power, with 3,000 Pa, a power that is above that of many vacuum cleaners.
The lower roller with springs It also helps keep floors spotless, by putting more pressure on the floor, and allowing us to get around and clean the edge of carpets (other robots got us stuck on some edges). In addition, it has a really spectacular autonomy. The fact that if the battery dies, you can recharge, and again, go back to the task you were doing also helps keep it functional.
On the negative side, we believe that the scrubbing system works well to keep the floors, as long as they are more or less clean. In case the floor is quite dirty, the mop gets dirty quickly, and decreases its cleaning capacity. The good thing is that the mop is easy to change and can be washed.
But all in all, it’s a minor flaw compared to the rest of the positive features that this smart cleaning robot has.
