Spoiler warning! Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has just been released on Disney +, so if you did not have the opportunity to see the film in the cinema, I recommend that you see it before continuing with this note, as it has major spoilers for half of the movie.
I think I saw Aliens and was thinking about the way those Marines get slaughtered, and yeah, I’m glad it worked. I think originally the Wasp was in a version of the Illuminati, and the Wasp shrunk and blew up Wanda, and [Wanda] he just clapped his hands and crushed it in the first version.”

According to writer Michael Waldron, the scene of Wanda against the Illuminati is inspired by Aliens, in the scene where the alien slaughters the Marines as Wanda kills all the heroes. However, an early version of this scene featured The Wasp as part of the Illuminati.
Just as Wanda was able to kill every member of the Illuminati that did appear in the movie, The Wasp was originally going to die at Wanda’s hands, literally. According to Waldron, the original plan was for The Wasp to shrink her down before flying towards Wanda, only for her to crush her with a simple clap.
Michael Waldron says he was afraid someone would tell them they had gone too far, but no one did. Because of this, the writer praised director Sam Raimi and Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios.
