W Hotels Worldwide, a brand that is part of the 30 in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, will present the long-awaited W Hotel Algarve. Located on the sunny coast of the Algarve, where its emblematic cliffs merge with the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic, the hotel 134 rooms and 83 residences will bring the distinctive energy of the brand to Portugal for the first time. with a breaker design headed by AB Conceptthe hotel will intertwine the impressive natural landscape of the Algarve and the rich Portuguese history with the characteristic style of the brand.
The fluid design of the interior spaces is a reflection of the fascinating Benagil caves, taking as a reference the sea and sky color palette that surround them, with a great diversity of blue tones. From the fabrics and surfaces to the enticing textures, every detail of the hotel is intentional. Guests will discover very unique pieces of art as well as spectacular lighting, which are responsible for telling the story of local tradition and heritage, from ceramics, mosaics and crochet to Moorish costumes, the lifestyle of fishermen and the surf culture of the destination.
An entry inspired by old local folklore will greet guests with a flowing, curved wall adorned with multiple mirrors and handmade Portuguese ceramic plates -made by Vista Alegre, a Portuguese handicraft company porcelain with nearly 200 years of history – in ethereal greens and blues placed abstractly, creating the mystical feeling of being underwater the moment guests walk through its doors.
The lively W Lounge features a fascinating central installation that resembles the waves of the sea, made with glass panels inspired by Moorish jewelry and ocean bubbles. One side of the W Lounge opens onto the terrace, flooding the space with natural light, creating an outdoor feel inside. The glamorous bar, decorated with arabic inspired tiles custom-made, it features spectacular blown-glass pendant lamps and a 20-meter-long onyx counter that stretches from the bar to the outdoor terrace.
Outside, guests can admire the elegant architecture around the water and the expansive hotel grounds, surrounded by lush forest, all referenced in the bar’s natural color palette.
The 134 rooms adopt an elegant “clean maximalism” combining natural materials with color elements. Handcrafted furnishings and intricate local touches are everywhere: filigree bedside lamps, dramatic backlit headboards Inspired by the design of nearby churches, mosaics made from authentic ceramic tiles from the Algarve and a crochet pattern that adorns the glass that separates the bathroom from the bedroom and reflects off the bedroom floor as light passes through it.
All rooms offer balconies with stunning views to the gardens and the Atlantic coast and the ten WOW suites have roof terraces and privileged sea views. The WOW Extreme Suite is inspired by the “Mouras Encantadas”, the supernatural beings from portuguese and galician folklore. In true “W” style, embracing individuality and authenticity, guests will be immersed in this ambience from the moment they walk through the mirrored lobby. Outside, travelers will be able to enjoy their private terrace, with a dining table, a swimming pool and incomparable sea views.
The Market Kitchen restaurant recreates a neighborhood atmosphere, drawing inspiration from local markets and using the traditional pavements of Calçada Portuguesa and typical tiles and windows. The rustic and relaxed air is conferred by the wooden floors, the floor-to-ceiling tiles and the double doors with latticework that open onto the luminous garden crowned by a fountain, flooding the space with light. A communal tiled table in the center of the restaurant and seating at the bar will complete the convivial atmosphere created by this space.
Crowning the hotel, with panoramic views of the ocean, you will find Paper Moon, brother of the famous Milanese restaurant which presents an elegant and lively space with spacious white interiors and French doors opening onto a large terrace where guests can enjoy stunning views of the peninsula.
The AWAY® spa, over 1,200 square meters, features a design inspired by the local fishing piers. The six treatment rooms include a room for couples treatments, a hair salon, a manicure and pedicure salon, facials with LED masks, as well as express cabins for pre-dinner touch-ups. The spa also incorporates a wet area with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi and a covered outdoor relaxation area. The Beauty Bar, a relaxed and social space, is designed in pastel tones and incorporates the patterns of traditional Portuguese tiles, created in the form of a mosaic on the ceiling. The relaxation area overlooks the gardens, while the treatment rooms use swirling dark tiles, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Fancy a getaway?
