Experiment 101’s Biomutant didn’t get a very positive reception when it was released last year. Reviewers praised the game’s graphics and world design, but found the gameplay underwhelming and full of wasted potential.
Nevertheless, biomutant It’s not without its good points, and it might get a little better on next-gen consoles. If a recent leak is to be believed, the action-RPG is finally about to receive its next-gen update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Reddit user the_andshrew discovered the leak and shared it on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit. According to the user, the developers have already published the version of biomutant for PlayStation 5 on the PlayStation Network backend. Developer THQ Nordic announced last year that Biomutant would be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there haven’t been any updates since the game’s disappointing launch.
If the leak is correct, this is the first proof that updates for the next generation are still on the table. Of course, any leak should be taken with reservations. The post provides a title and concept ID number, as well as a link to key art from the game.
However, there’s nothing in the image that ties it specifically to the PlayStation 5 update. So while the leak may be accurate, fans should balance their excitement with an appropriate amount of skepticism.
That said, it doesn’t seem like there are as many fans of Biomutant as the developers hoped. For those unfamiliar with the game, Biomutant is a post-apocalyptic action RPG. Players take on the role of a mutant warrior in a world inhabited by mutant sentient animals.
It features a branching story along with third-person combat and platforming action. However, many gamers criticized the combat as “floating” or “weightless” and felt that it did not measure up to other open world games such as Breath of the Wild and Shadow of Mordor.
