The GT World Challenge Europe has entered the countdown for the 24 Hours of Spa. However, the contest puts on the short format suit before disputing its queen appointment with the fourth round of the Sprint Cup. An event that will take place between July 1 and 3 at the circuit of Miano. With the fight for the title entering its decisive phase, the contest has its widest grid so far this season, since 27 GT3 vehicles will be present on the Italian track.
The SRO contest makes its usual trip to the Adriatic coast to dispute its appointment in Misano, in which it will be the fourth event of the season in the Sprint Cup. An event in which there will be 27 GT3 vehicles thanks to the incorporation of two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. The first of these cars is managed by Imperiale Racing and you are enrolled in the Pro class, while the second appears in the Pro-Am category and is under the management of LP Racing. This second car has number #888.
Beyond the incorporation of the Lamborghini of the two local teams, it should be noted that the JP Motorsport keeps its two McLaren 720S GT3 in contention, although there has been a change in the car entered in the Pro-Am category. Norbert Siedler has been the driver chosen to replace Christian Klien. The three-time Sprint Cup race winner will serve as mentor and partner to ‘Bronze’ rated driver Patryk Krupinski. In exchange, JOTA will not be present in Misano with his McLaren.
There are some other changes in the list of drivers present in the Sprint Cup. Without going any further, Gilles Magnus will not be present in the Audi #26 due to the clash of dates between the SRO contest and the WTCR appointment in Vila Real. Magnus will be replaced by Lucas Legeret inside the vehicle that competes in the Silver Cup. In addition, tThere are also changes of pilots in the GSM Novamarine squadas well as in the AF Corse Ferrari #21.
With everything, the attention in Misano will focus especially on the duel between the WRT and Akkodis-ASP teams for the title. Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor start the weekend as leaders in the #32 Audi, but the WRT duo is only half a point clear of Raffaele Marciello and Timur Boguslavskiy, drivers of the Akkodis-ASP #89 Mercedes. With everything, the local public will also be very aware of what Valentino Rossi can do with the #46 Audi of Team WRT.
